Sterling Marlin Endorses Kurt Winstead in TN-5 Race

Kurt Winstead’s campaign announced Friday that retired NASCAR driver Sterling Marlin endorsed Winstead in the race for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District seat.

“General Winstead and I are both farm boys with strong conservative Republican values. I’ve spent time with him on several occasions, and I have no doubt that he will fight tooth and nail to defeat the Biden-Pelosi agenda in Washington. I am proud to offer my full support and endorsement to General Winstead as the next Congressman of Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District, said Marlin in a statement.

“Sterling has been a staple in the Maury County community for decades. I am truly humbled and honored to have the support and trust of a winner and community leader, like Sterling,” said General Winstead reacting to the endorsement.

Marlin is a retired NASCAR driver who won the Daytona 500 winner on two different occasions. He was also the 1983 Winston Cup Series Rookie of the Year.

He was additionally recognized as a two-time Tennessee Professional Athlete of the Year. Marlin resides on a farm in his hometown of Columbia, Tennessee.

Marlin is also a member of the Fairgrounds Speedway Hall of Fame.

The Tennessee Star previously reported that Winstead promoted an endorsement by a woke union, IAFF Local 4381 Columbia Firefighters Association, in early July.

IAFF Local 4381 Columbia Firefighters Association honored and celebrated “Pride Month” by changing its profile photo on social media to the now commonly recognized “LGBTQ Pride” rainbow colors on June 1.

Early voting for the August 4 Republican primary for TN-5 and for primaries all around Tennessee is underway and will conclude on July 30.

The 5th Congressional District consists of parts of Davidson, Williamson, and Wilson counties, as well as all of Maury, Marshall, and Lewis counties.

What EXACTLY are this guy (winstead’s) policies? I havent seen them anywhere–the ONLY thing from his ads on TV I hear is he was raised on a farm and is a “retired brigadier general”–neither of those things tells me ANYTHING about his actual stances on any issues that are important.
The fact that his wife is a big dem lobbyist and he worked for her the past few years is never mentioned–wonder why?
D5 is going to be a cluster and wind up electing one of two SUPERRINOS–Winstead or Harwell

So Beth with her American Conservative Union score of 86% is not only a “RINO” but she is a “SUPERRINO.” You are one tough grader lb. Wonder what you would call Williamson County’s own Sam Whitson who has an ACU score of 78% or Kelly Keisling (75%) a “SUPERDUPERRINO” and “SUPERGALACTICRINO” respectively?

You mean NASCAR – the woke operation – that skewered a driver because a “noose” was found in a garage and the “southern” operation that has band any image of the Confederacy. I do not know Mr. Marlin, but I do know NASCAR. That does not encourage me to vote for windbag Winstead. You know, the guy married to a freaking Democrat operative!!

Well, I drive a sports car and I my primary goal by far for this 2022 Republican primary is to do what I can to see to it that Gen. Weathervane does NOT become my next U. S. Congressman so I will vote for Beth Harwell.

Don’t take political advice from race car drivers folks
